The Militant newspaper was launched in 1964. They chose this name because “it symbolised people who are prepared to fight, people who are prepared to struggle”.
“The five” people of the editorial board were the first to be expelled by the Labour Party in 1983.
Nevertheless they didn’t stop fighting. During the following decade they carried on numerous political battles, especially in the Liverpool City Council, in order to try to resist Margaret Thatcher’s policies.
And they won, they defeated Thatcher, on the basis of a huge mass movement who eventually pushed the prime minister to resign.
Meet the people who dared to fight every day of their lives.
